Anti-Inflammatory Green Smoothie (AIP, Paleo, Keto, Whole30, Gluten free, Dairy free, Nut-free, Soy-free)

Ok, I hope this isn’t TMI, but during my last period, I didn’t want to feel run down and yucky. For the first time, I took action to support my body, rather than ignoring it and pushing through it. So, I started with this green smoothie. It has carefully selected anti-inflammatory ingredients and helps make up for nutrient loss during periods. Honestly, after drinking this, I had more energy than usual. Give it a try and let me know how you feel! Side note: it’s not just for menstruating women, anyone can benefit from this smoothie.

Let the blending begin!

The steps:

  • First, you’re going to add all ingredients, except for water and bone broth protein powder, to a high powered blender. It’s a good idea to add the ingredients to the blender cup in the order they’re listed in the recipe. This ensures that things get all blended up properly.
  • Fill the blender with water until it reaches the max fill line. For my Blendtec it’s the 36oz line.
  • Turn on the blender and blend until very smooth. I usually push the 90 second button, but yours might be different.
  • Now, take the lid off, add the protein powder (if using), replace the lid, and then blend again on low for about 5 seconds. You want the powder to be just mixed in.
  • Serve into cups and enjoy! I usually drink 2 servings of this, so almost half the recipe.

Substitutions:

  • There are only a couple of substitutions for this recipe. First is using fresh turmeric, instead of powdered, but that can be hard to find in stores.
  • You can change up which greens you use. I used Super Greens, but you can also use kale, spinach, spring mix, etc.

Recommended kitchen items:

  • Blendtec blender. This is one of my absolute favorite appliances in my kitchen.
  • Silicone straws. This is my favorite “hack” for getting my kids to drink their smoothies. They get to pick their color and they think it’s so fun. Bonus, they’re reusable.

I hope you love this recipe, and would love to hear about how making it went for you! Share with me in the comments below, on Pinterest, or @whitsfoodfit on Instagram.

Way too sweet! I even added an extra handful of greens. Maybe doesn’t need the green apple or needs more ginger.
